Brent Crude from the British North Sea

98% of UK's production comes from offshore fields. Most gas came from Morecambe Bay and the Southern North Sea, but both areas are now in decline. Oil comes mainly from the North Sea Central Graben close to the median line with Norway in two main clusters - around the Forties oilfield east of Aberdeen and the Brent oilfield.
The diving oil price has had a devastating effect on the North Sea industry with an estimated 65,000 jobs lost in the past 18 months. That’s about 15 per cent of the total UK oil and gas workforce.

While the Brent Delta decommissioning is not controversial, Shell’s proposal to leave the concrete and steel structures that support the four Brent topsides in the sea, as well as other materials, are being opposed by environmental groups.
